Sunshine Newsletter for July 2021

Sunshine Japanese has the 5th anniversary this month. Time flies! I appreciate all members’ continuous hard work. Your work and smiles have been encouraging me all the time. We made this all together. I will definitely keep devoting myself to improve and develop my teaching for your further learning.

For this second half of this year, I hope you all stay healthy and enjoy your own journey of Japanese learning with Sunshine Japanese.

Workshop & Kōryū-kai (gathering) :

We will have no workshop but have a special Kōryū-kai for the 5th anniversary this month.

This will be a very casual gathering so that you will be able to meet new members or see others again. I will prepare some finger foods and green tea. Please also bring some finger foods or snack to share and your own drink if you like. And your family or partner are most welcome to join us too.

I look forward to you joining in for this casual and fun gathering.

Time: 4:00pm-6:00pm, 24th July (it’s casual, no stress to come in on time, early or late)

Place: Sunshine Japanese (BBQ area)

PSVP: 22nd July

Oshaberi Club:

Oshaberi club (where you can practice your Japanese conversational skills with other participants who are interested in a certain topic) comprising two groups, one being elementary to pre-intermediate and the other being intermediate or higher. Please feel free to jump in and enjoy this fun challenge.

***GROUP 1: Intermediate or higher*** This month, we will try a casual conversation for the first time. Casual conversation sounds more simple and easier than polite conversation; that’s because you have already learnt proper grammar. It’s easier to change polite mode to casual mode whereas the opposite way of change is much harder. The members of this group will challenge this conversation. You need to more focus on the speech mode this time, so please chat about simply stories rather than complex ones. It would be an enjoyable challenge!

Time: 1:00 pm, Saturday, 10th July

***GROUP 2: Elementary to pre-intermediate*** Don’t hesitate, and just give a go! Let’s talk about your most previous trip to Japan, what you like, what you didn’t like, tell us what was interesting, fun, cool or new that you discovered. Bring some photos, prints, gift (Omiyage), trinket, anything that you brought back from your travels and let’s chat about it this Oshaberi club. Please come and join us.

Time: 3:00 pm, Saturday, 10th July

For both groups, please book your attendance so that I can organise the groups. Try to book at the earliest time to reserve your spot as you don’t want to miss out.
